Working in Quality Control

We’re all about quality at Aldi. So before anything goes out to our stores, we perform lots of ‘spot checks’ on short-life products. We inspect everything from cut flowers to cauliflowers, making sure that it meets both legal standards, and our very high expectations.

And we do it all with the help of technology. Using a tablet system, we can access, update and share information in real time. It’s what our customers deserve, and why they keep coming back for more.

There are a few different roles you take on. You just need to be a real stickler for quality. It’s your eagle eyes we’re after. And with a bit of determination and our support, you could progress from a Quality Control Assistant to a Quality Control Deputy. Night shift premium applies for any hours worked between 10pm-4am.

Quality Control Leader

Reporting to the Director, you’ll be out in the warehouse guiding and supporting your team of Quality Control Assistants. Under your watchful eye, your Assistants will carefully check the pallets, ensuring that our short-life products are perfect when they leave our warehouses. If anything is below standard, you’ll authorise the Assistant’s decision to reject it.

As well as supporting the Assistants in their checks, you’ll have a number of personnel duties, such as co-ordinating rotas and organising training. Your days will be very busy visiting suppliers, summarising results from quality checks and providing meaningful feedback to the Director. You’ll also place orders with suppliers, depending on the results gathered from stores across the region.

Quality Control Deputy

Out in the warehouse, we have a busy team of Quality Control Assistants checking our short-life products before they leave for our stores. Whenever the QC Leader is called out, for example to a supplier or to a meeting with the Trading Director, you’ll step in to take the reins.

An energetic leader, you’ll offer your expertise to keep things moving smoothly. A real people person, you’ll keep the team happy and motivated, ensuring that our products comply with our standards. Attention to detail is a must – after all, you’re passionate about our produce and what we’re trying to achieve for our customers. Quality Control Assistant

Working in a fast-moving warehouse environment, you’ll provide a speedy and efficient Quality Control service. Full training will be provided but you’ll need to be energetic and proactive. Most importantly, you’ll have an eye for detail. Using our tablet system, you’ll ‘spot check’ pallets of short-life produce – checking the country of origin, dimensions and weight.

Essentially, this role is about checking that the products we receive match the specifications that we’re given. For example, does the cut of meat weigh the amount that it says it does? All in all, this is a busy and challenging role that’s crucial in helping to keep our customers happy.
